CWC19, Team Review:
Indian team reached England in the hope of winning the third World Cup title under the captaincy of Virat Kohli, it was expensive to ignore the problems. Before the World Cup, the Indian team lost the one-day series against Australia at home, where the weakness of the batting middle order was clearly visible. But the selectors abandoned the middle order by giving more importance to all-rounder cricketers in team selection. The Indian team was extremely heavy.
The positive aspect of the team: The most positive thing for Team India is their bowling in the World Cup. Indian bowlers did well in the entire World Cup. While leading the bowling attack, Jaspreet Bumrah once again proved that due to which he is considered the number one bowler in the current limited-overs format cricket. Bumrah hit 18 wickets in 9 matches At the same time, Mohammed Shami, writing his short story, was not much behind. Shami took 14 wickets in four matches. Although the decision of the team management to not bowl Shami in the last two matches, especially in the semi-final, all setback.
Team India's reverse spin, Yuswendra Chahal, got 12 wickets in 8 matches. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Kuldeep Yadav were in the bowling attack. Bhuvan took 10 wickets in 6 matches and Yadav took only 6 wickets in 7 matches.
CWC19, Team Review: West Indies
Shining Vice Captain: The best performance for the Indian team in the World Cup was done by Rohit Sharma. The vice-captain has scored five centuries in his World Cup history. After an injury to fellow batsman Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit took over the Indian batting from one end. Rohit has scored 648 runs in 9 matches at an average of 81 and is the highest run-scorer in the world. But Rohit alone could not reach the Indian team title. When Rohit failed in the semi-final against New Zealand, the entire batting order was disintegrated.
Number 4 batsman not found in the entire World Cup tournament: Before the World Cup squad was declared, Team India's number four batsman Ambati Rayudu was as if the captain Virat Kohli had said. But after the New Zealand series, Rishabh Pant was overlooked in the ODI series against Australia, ignoring Raidu. Then suddenly, all-rounder Vijay Shankar was given the chance of being the number four batsman in the World Cup squad.
Shankar played only three matches in the World Cup, in which he scored only 58 runs and took 2 wickets. During the tournament, KL Rahul also got a chance at number four but after Shikhar Dhawan's injury, he was given the responsibility of open batting.
CWC19, Team Review: Tazza Afghanistan to win the controversy
After Shankar's injury, stand-by player Pant was included in the World Cup squad and the fourth-placed batting was handed over. Pant scored 116 runs in four matches. Although there is no lack of talent in them, Pant has played a series of negligent shots in major tournaments such as the World Cup. Every step of Team India, picked up to handle the middle order in the World Cup, was unsuccessful and as a result, India lost to the semi-finals.
Before leaving for Team India's World Cup, many cricket critics had questioned the weakness of the Indian middle-order but the board and team management ignored them. The Indian team reached England with a squad where Rohit, Dhawan, and Kohli were top-ranking batsmen but there was no experienced player in the middle order. The players and millions of Indian fans suffered due to this mistake of Indian selectors and management.
